Commonly Asked Questions About Liposuction:

  • What can I expect from recovery after a liposuction procedure?
Most patients take off about 2 days from work after this procedure.  Depending on the area that the liposuction is performed, they usually have some bruising and soreness comparable to after a fall.  Patients are asked to dial down their daily activities to allow for healing and to keep swelling to a minimum.  Dr. Quinn will normally release patients to normal and full activities 4-6 weeks after the procedure.
  • What is the liposuction procedure?
This procedure is done on an out-patient basis.  Small suction tubes (cannulas) are inserted through a very short incision placed in inconspicuous locations near the fat deposits, and excess fat is removed.
  • Who is a candidate for liposuction?
If you have excess subcutaneous fat which is resistant to diet and exercise and/or you wish to change the contours of your body, you might be a candidate.  Candidates for this procedure are near normal weight and desire permanent contour changes.
  • Can this procedure be covered under insurance?
Insurance companies consider this a cosmetic procedure and therefore it is not covered.  The patient is responsible for payment of this procedure.
  • Can liposuction be combined with my tummy tuck or breast procedure?
Liposuction is commonly combined with other cosmetic procedures, but it will be up to Dr. Quinn’s discretion whether or not you are a candidate for a combined procedure.
