IPL is performed by applying light energy to the face during the Intense Pulsed Light skin care treatment. The patient will feel a snap similar to that produced by a rubber band contacting the skin, resulting in what many patients describe as mild discomfort. In most cases, each treatment takes less than 30 minutes to complete. There is no recovery time associated with this skin enhancement. After the treatments are completed, patients may look slightly sunburned but this redness can be covered with makeup. You may return to work immediately and will not feel significant discomfort after the procedure.
To get the best results, IPL skin care patients will need more than one treatment to see their best results. On average, patients require five to eight treatments with three-week intervals in between visits to our office, located in Overland Park near Kansas City. Skin care patients notice a difference even after the first treatment, however, and the skin often feels smoother and looks more attractive even after just one treatment. As treatments continue, sun spots will start to fade and the skin will look smoother and more youthful overall.
