Young, healthy-looking skin contains an abundance of a naturally hydrating substance called hyaluronic acid (HA). As you age, time, sunlight, and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin. This lack of HA causes your skin to lose structure and volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds, like those “parentheses” lines around your nose and mouth.
To fight those parentheses, Juvéderm® helps replace the HA your skin has lost, adding volume to smooth away facial wrinkles and folds. Juvéderm is a smooth-consistency HA gel that is FDA approved to last up to one year with only one treatment. Juvéderm is formulated with lidocaine, a common anesthetic, to provide a more comfortable experience during and after treatment.
At Quinn Medical Day Spa, our trained nurse injector, under the supervision of Dr. John Michael Quinn, can inject Juvéderm in approximately 30 minutes. A thin needle is used, and because lidocaine is already formulated in the filler, the discomfort associated with this treatment is minimal. Injections are gently made into wrinkles and lines on the patient’s face.
After the procedure, patients may want to recover at home. Though there is no significant downtime after Juvéderm is administered, patients may experience slight redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, and itching. The results are usually visible immediately. The wrinkles will be substantially diminished, and the face will look smoother and more youthful overall.
