An Innovative Twist On a Proven Treatment

What is Microneedling?

Quinn Aesthetic Center offers microneedling treatments using SkinPen II, an innovative treatment that improves fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, stretch marks, and other conditions by stimulating your skin’s natural ability to repair itself. New collagen and elastin production can help counteract years of sun damage, improve acne scars, and enhance the overall appearance of aging skin.

The SkinPen II is the latest and most advanced microneedling device. It is the only FDA-cleared microneedling device. Though it is a simple process, the SkinPen II is actually an elegant, multi-step treatment that achieves great results by unleashing your body’s natural skin restorative abilities.

SkinPen II is capable of treating 99% of patients safely and effectively with little downtime. Microneedling stimulates your skin’s natural ability to produce new collagen and elastin to help produce healthier, younger-looking skin. Ideal candidates for SkinPen II treatments are at least 22 years of age. If you are considering a SkinPen II treatment, you are advised to limit sun exposure and avoid tanning treatments two weeks before your session.

How SkinPen II works

Your Microneedling Procedure

Skin Pen II’s microneedling system is an advanced collagen induction therapy. In other words, by creating tiny channels in your skin, your body is tricked into rushing revitalized extra collagen and growth factors to the treated area, which restores your skin and infuses it with vital nutrients. Collagen is a building block of healthy, youthful skin, but your skin’s supply of collagen is naturally diminished over time. Add on the effects of sun damage, and you have a recipe for premature signs of aging, lax skin, and dull skin. With this treatment, you are reintroducing fresh collagen and providing your skin with important proteins and growth factors that it needs to retain youthful elasticity and a clear complexion.

Additional Reading

Your skin is part of your body’s natural defense mechanism and has powerful processes built in that go to work even at the slightest hint of injury. The SkinPen II creates microchannels, which set the three phases of wound repair in motion. A topical numbing cream is applied 30 minutes before the treatment. Then, a thin layer of serum is applied to the skin, and the appropriate treatment is selected for a particular type of skin. Then, the pen is glided across the area to be repaired in a gentle motion.

Stages of Healing

Stage one:

Once the surface of the skin is pierced, your immune system disinfects the wound by rushing blood to the site in a reaction called inflammation. The inflammatory reaction removes broken tissue and starts building new tissue.

Stage two:

New cells, type III collagen, and temporary elastin rebuild tissue, creating a fresh “extracellular matrix.” New blood vessel networks are constructed to supply the extracellular matrix as well.

Stage three:

Finally, the wound is fully closed and replaced with new tissues that are stronger cells; type III collagens are swapped out for type I collagens. In this phase, the exchange of collagen types creates a tightening, shrinking effect on the skin. All of this takes place with zero effort on your end and continues even after your treatment is complete.

Extensive Skin Repair With Minimal Downtime

Microneedling Recovery

Immediately following the treatment, you will notice a healthy pink glow. Quinn Aesthetic Center will recommend products to aid your skin’s natural healing process. Your total healing time depends on the severity of the damaged skin and the depth of the repair process required. Treated spots may be pink. On average, patients are pink for two to four days, while some patients heal completely in 24 hours.

Fast & Ongoing Improvements

Microneedling Results

Most people notice healthier-looking skin immediately after our Kansas City microneedling, and the natural repair process of the skin continues to progress over the course of several weeks. The collagen renewal process takes place over time, and your skin will continue to improve for up to six months after your final treatment.

Schedule Your Kansas City Microneedling Consultation Today

During your consultation, you will meet with our aesthetician to discuss your personal goals and point out the skin issues that are concerning you. Together, you will be able to go over which options best fit your needs. The SkinPen II microneedling treatment may be recommended and, if so, you will go over the steps of the treatment in detail. Microneedling Frequently Asked Questions

The cost of microneedling varies depending on the size of the area or the type of issue treated. Additionally, those who opt for comprehensive skin rejuvenation and choose additional treatments will receive different pricing. Microneedling typically takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending upon the size of the area to be treated and the severity of skin damage. Your individual course of treatment will be determined by your skin care professional and is based on your treatment goals and the health of your skin. Most patients receive a series of three treatments spaced about four weeks apart. For patients with more severe skin issues, additional sessions may be necessary. SkinPen II features the most advanced microneedle cartridge technology on the market today, which optimizes the experience and patient results.

There are many types of skin treatments that are marketed and many will be compared to the SkinPen treatment. However, not all microneedling treatments are the same.

Over-the-counter, take-home microneedling kits are available and promise the same results as professional-strength treatments. Take-home microneedling kits are inherently riskier because you are increasing the possibility of infection. Without professional care and outside of a clinical setting, you are exposing deeper levels of your skin (which is extremely vulnerable due to microchanneling) to risk. Dermal rolls are a budget-friendly version of a microchanneling system that punctures the surface of your skin using a needle “roller” that is applied to the skin. Dermal rollers do not have the precision of professional quality treatments, and results may be inconsistent.

Chemical peels are another exfoliating skin treatment where a customized blend of topical agents is applied to the skin and left to set. As they set, they break up oil, dead skin, and peel away the skin for a powerful exfoliation treatment. The depth of the peel can be varied to match a specific type of treatment or skin issue. Each peel can achieve a different set of goals and address different types of skin blemishes. Set up your consultation to learn more about which treatment is right for you. Microdermabrasion is a classic skin rejuvenation treatment that exfoliates the top layer of skin. This treatment is performed by using an abrasive material, brush, or scraper. When applied, old, dead skin cells are mechanically removed to produce a refreshed, clear layer of skin. This treatment can be effective for addressing a dull complexion, scars, fine lines, and wrinkles. Whether this treatment is right for you is dependent on your specific goals and the types of skin concerns you want to address.
