Liposuction is a viable option for patients who, after diet and exercise, still experience dissatisfaction with extra deposits of fatty tissue in certain parts of their body. Excess fat can be a result of poor weight management, but it can also be hereditary. Patients choose liposuction to enhance their body shape or to continue with healthy efforts.
Procedures take place at an out-patient surgical facility in Overland Park. The liposuction procedure involves making a small incision at the treatment area, through which Dr. Quinn inserts a metal tube called a cannula. The cannula is used to gently suck away the excess fat cells within the treatment area. Once the appropriate amount of fat has been removed, Dr. Quinn closes the incision site.
Recovery following liposuction is relatively short, but it may take some time for you to see the final results. Initially, compression garments may be used to reduce post-surgical swelling. You may also undergo processes to drain excess fluids or have medication administered as a precaution for infection. All pre and post-surgical decisions will be discussed Dr. Quinn to ensure treatment satisfaction.
Excess fat can be removed from multiple locations on the body, including but not limited to:
