Some of our happiest patients are the women who undergo a “mommy makeover.” This makeover refers to a combination of procedures that create fuller, more lifted breasts and a smaller, more whittled-down waist. It is popular among women whose bodies have taken a toll after pregnancy, childbirth, or major weight loss.
As much as we love our children, the quick weight changes due to pregnancy and childbirth can leave women feeling less attractive due to loose skin, weakened abdominal muscles and sagging and/or deflated breasts. If you are considering losing more weight or having more children, the mommy makeover may not be for you. But if you are finished with pregnancy and weight loss, then you may be an excellent candidate for this procedure!
Breast Lift with or Without Implants
Breast lifts are extremely effective for patients looking to address the effects of pregnancy and breast feeding.
Breast lift surgery takes between one and three hours. Dr. Quinn will mark your breasts before surgery in order to provide guidelines for incisions that will be made during surgery. Dr. Quinn will then make the incisions and removing any excess skin. At this point, the procedure may or may not include inserting breast implants to restore the breast to its original shape and fullness. The breast lift may involve moving nipples and/or resizing areolas. Ultimately, patients will have a raised and reshaped bust line that lends to a beautiful new body contour.
A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is the removal of excess fat and skin on the abdomen and the tightening of the abdominal muscles. The tummy tuck incision is made fairly low so that the resulting scar will be as discreet as possible. After the incision is made, Dr. Quinn removes excess fat and skin from the abdomen, shaping a pleasing contour for your new figure. He also tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall to enhance your new, toned appearance. He then closes and bandages the incision. You might be asked to wear a compression garment to minimize swelling and speed your recovery.
Liposuction is a viable option for patients who, after diet and exercise, still experience dissatisfaction with extra deposits of fatty tissue in certain parts of their body.
The liposuction procedure involves making a small incision at the treatment area through which Dr. Quinn inserts a metal tube called a cannula. The cannula is used to gently suck away the excess fat cells within the treatment area. Once the appropriate amount of fat has been removed, Dr. Quinn closes the incision site.
Mommy Makeover Best Practices
It’s important to remember that not all mommies need all three procedures. Be sure to ask questions about what you want and learn about what helps the success of a mommy makeover procedure. When considering planning when to schedule a mommy makeover, talk to Dr. Quinn about the best timing for you and your family. It’s important to always have support at home during the recovery process.
